Zirek Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Zirek is a Chrome extension made by kurd_hitech. It dubs the audio of a browser tab into Kurdish (Sorani or Kurmanji) in real time and can show live Kurdish subtitles. In this policy, "Zirek", "we" and "us" mean the Zirek team. You can reach us at support@zirek.live.

2. The short version

  • Your Gemini API key and your settings stay on your device.
  • The audio of the tab goes directly from your browser to Google. It never passes through our servers.
  • We store only what we need to run your account: your email address, your plan, and how many minutes you have used.
  • We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or tracking.

3. What we collect and why

Your account (when you sign in with Google)

We receive your email address, and the name and profile picture link that Google shares when you sign in, together with a unique account ID and your sign-in dates. We use this only to create your Zirek account and sign you in. Our backend provider, Supabase, handles sign-in and stores this data for us. Supabase also keeps security logs of sign-in, token refresh and sign-out events, which include your IP address and your browser's user agent.

Your usage

While you dub, the extension records the number of minutes you used, about once a minute, with the time of each record. We use this to give you 30 free minutes and to run your subscription. We do not record which website or video you dubbed, or what was said.

Your subscription and payments (when you buy one)

We keep the plan you chose, the payment method (for example a bank card transfer, FIB, FastPay, QiCard or cryptocurrency), the transfer reference or transaction ID you give us, the review status, and our review notes. We use this only to confirm your payment and activate your subscription. We never ask for or store card numbers, bank passwords or wallet keys.

4. What stays only on your device

The following is stored in Chrome's extension storage on your computer:

Removing the extension deletes all of this data. Signing out deletes your session tokens and the copy of your account.

5. Audio and Google Gemini

When you press Start, Zirek captures the audio of the current tab and streams it directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API, using your own API key. Google sends back the Kurdish voice and subtitle text. This audio and text never pass through our servers, and we never see them. Zirek also uses your API key to ask Google which Gemini models your key can use.

Your use of the Gemini API is between you and Google and is governed by Google's Gemini API Additional Terms of Service.

Important: if your API key is on Google's free (unpaid) tier, Google states that it may use the content you send to improve its products, that human reviewers may read it, and that you should not submit sensitive, confidential or personal information. If this matters to you, do not dub private or confidential content, or use a paid Gemini API plan.

6. Google user data and Limited Use

Zirek uses the Google user data it receives through Google sign-in (your email address, name and profile picture) only to create your account and sign you in. We do not sell this data. We do not transfer it to anyone except Supabase, our service provider for sign-in. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models. No person reads it, except when you ask us for help, for security reasons, or when the law requires it.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

These providers may process data on servers outside your country.

9. How long we keep data

We keep your account, usage and subscription records for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete them within 30 days, except payment records that the law requires us to keep. Supabase keeps its security logs for a limited period according to its own settings.

All connections use HTTPS. Database access rules let each user read only their own data, and usage minutes can change only through checks that run on our server. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

Zirek is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. We will announce important changes in the extension or on this website.
